Country Kitchen Carlow

I'm a visiting American and have been in Ireland over 2 months now. While I've eaten at a host of "nicer" restaurants (e.g. upscale), the meal I had at Country Kitchen has delivered the Best actual food on my plate...I was SO pleasantly surprised!

I had the roast chicken which was scrumptious + a very large portion, and finalllly some nicely roasted potatoes which have been a repeated disappointment at a number of carveries (can't fathom Why!). I was delightfully surprised that a side of stuffing was on offer too, which was also Excellent. I miss the traditional Thanksgivings back in the States as I'm an expat now so this lunchtime meal was a welcome substitute. The carrots were also delicious and they also generously added mashed potatoes and gravy as well.

I had enough left over for another meal (great value!), so I also purchased an additional takeaway container of the yummy stuffing to enjoy a second time. I don't want to discount their star-rating for the atmosphere, it's a simple but clean and pleasant environment with a 2nd-floor view of sorts. The staff's service was prompt and friendly -- it was a buffet type setup so the food was provided immediately. I'd eat here again in a heartbeat....my warm THANKS to Country Kitchen for a much-appreciated properly roasted meal (at last!). : D

Tis poor overall. While the staff are friendly & helpful the food is very poor. The restaurant itself was a bit cold as was the breakfast. Can't understand why. Portions a bit mingy too, to say the least and the coffee wad not great at all. And this for a €10.95 breakfast. I won't be back.

I was in here one Friday and got dinner and across from my table were 3 men and a woman drinking tea and one of the men continualy vaped. When I was finished i complained to the owner and he said he didn't see him vaping well that's fine I won't ever be in this restaurant again.
